These pictures were taken with a little Kodak 110 camera when I visited Disney World in 1976 during The Bicentennial Celebration and during 1977. At the time I was living in Tampa FL so it was only a short drive to Disney World and I went quite often while I was living there. Of course at that time Disney World really wasn't that much different from Disneyland. There was only one park called The Magic Kingdom which was the same basic layout as Disneyland and was the main reason for going. The majority of the rides were the same or similar to those at Disneyland. The Real differences at that time was the outlying areas such as the Resort Hotels which were the Contemporary Resort and the Polynesian Village. There was also Fort Wilderness and a couple of golf courses with a Golf Resort Hotel. Also the Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village and of course River Country. The monorail was much longer at Disney World and went through The Contemporary Resort and Polynesian Village with stops at the main entrance to The Magic Kingdom and The Parking lot which is now the Travel Center. In fact the only way to get from the parking lot to the Magic Kingdom was the take the Monorail or the Ferry across the lake. These were some fun times and I wish I had taken more pictures. For more information about Disney World in 1977 Check out the Other Disney Stuff section for a complete Pictorial Souvenir. |
